Style Guide: Using Accessories to Step Up Your Wardrobe Game

Want to take your senior photos to the next level? Accessories are an easy way to add texture, variety, and interest to your outfits! Simply adding a hat or jacket gives you a whole new look without having to do a full outfit change. Not only do accessories look amazing, but they also give you additional posing options in your session. Here's a few of my favorites:

Hats

Hats are a GREAT way to accessorize your outfit. They work great for all genders and have so much variety. Make sure to tailor your hat selection to both your outfit and vibe. Going for an urban look? Baseball caps and beanies are perfect. Planning a shoot in a field of flowers? Cowboy hats, fedoras, floppy sun hats, etc. work best.

Sunglasses

Not only are sunglasses fun, but they can also be functional! On those super sunny days, sunglasses allow me to shoot in full sun without sacrificing your eyesight. They come in a variety of shapes and colors to match any outfit. And sunglasses aren't just for girls- they are a great option for guys as well.

Vest

Looking for a little extra warmth during your next session? Vests are an easy way to keep you warm as well as add texture and color to your outfit. Worried about adding too much bulk? Opt for vest with little to no padding.

And so much more!

Here's some additional ways you can spice up your senior outfits:

  1. Shoes: Yes, they matter! Make sure to bring different shoe options to match your outfits and location. Colorful heels are great for urban locations but not a good choice for fields. Boot, sneakers, and flats are great for uneven terrain.

  2. Jewelry: Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings can all make a statement in your senior photos. Pro Tip: Pick one statement piece (such as a necklace) and then add one additional jewelry piece (earrings, rings, etc).

  3. Jackets: These are great for girls and guys! For an urban environment: puffy jackets, leather, fur, and structured jackets are great options. For rural locations: denim, wraps, open front cardigans, and flowing fabrics are best.

Still not sure what to wear? All of our senior sessions come with a wardrobe consultation to make sure you are confident in your selections and looking your best!  Ready to book your senior session? Let's chat!

Xoxo,
Sarah
